As of 1 July 2013, valid Regulation (EU) No 305/2011 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 9 March 2011 is laying down harmonized conditions for the marketing of construction products and repealing Council Directive 89/106/EEC, as CPR.

The Regulation covers construction products intended for use in buildings and other construction works. From 1 July 2016 the regulation also covered the installation cables designed for permanent installation in buildings. With the entry into force of the Regulation established a 12-month transitional period for the adaptation by producers of products to the requirements of the CPR. Detailed guidelines fire resistance wires are described in the harmonized standard EN 50575:2015-03/A1:2016-11, valid from 10 June 2016 year. Fire properties described in the harmonized standard and regulation are divided into classes of resistance / reaction to fire and the spread of dangerous substances when burned.

Since 1 July 2017 year power, control and communication cables used to supply energy and for communication applications mandatory must have the declaration of performance (DOP) and have the designation as defined in harmonized standard.
